Jim Kerrigan
Jim Kerrigan joined Avison Young in February 2012 to lead the Data Center. Prior to joining Avison, Jim spent 4 years at Grubb & Ellis as their National Data Center Practice Group Leader and 14 years as a Principal in The Staubach Company’s Midwest Regional Office.
Jim has focused on representing technology oriented office tenants for over 20 years. In 1998 he began representing telecommunication companies looking for data center space. He has completed over three million square feet of data center transactions. Services include: Colocation versus stand alone, construction management, business continuity services, business and economic incentive, price per kilowatt analysis, and providing financing sources.
Jim has worked on over $150 MM private equity transactions, $75 MM of investor banking transactions and 10 MW of wholesale lease transactions. Jim has been entrusted by developers and colocation companies such as DuPont Fabros, Equinix, and Savvis to find their sites but also represented tenants such as Guardian Life Insurance, Server Central, and United Airlines to lease wholesale space within these projects.
Jim holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Illinois.
David Horowitz
David Horowitz joined Avison Young in February 2012 to help lead the Data Center Group. Prior to joining Avison, David spent 4 years at Grubb & Ellis in their National Data Center Practice Group and 4 years at The Staubach Company’s Midwest Regional Office.
David has focused on representing technology oriented tenants. David has successfully completed over 2 million square feet of data center transactions during the last five years, representing some of the largest technology companies in the world.
David’s specialties include: Site-selection, relocations and renewals, lease/license negotiations, data center and wholesale facilities, price per kilowatt breakdowns, power and fiber analysis, and strategic planning & financial analysis.
David holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Communications from the University of Kansas.
Rob Walters
Robert Walters has 14 years of commercial real estate experience, initially on the acquisition and development side of the business. He currently focuses on the sale and leasing of office and flex product throughout Northern Virginia. Since joining Millennium in 2002, Rob’s combined sales and leasing activity totals more than $700 million. Recent accomplishments include: 100,000 sf lease with Blackbird Technologies, 220,000 sf lease with CACI, 120,000 sf lease with Qinetiq, and the prelease of 435,000 sf to the EPA to kick off the Potomac Yard office project. Rob joined Avison Young as a result of the June 2011 acquisition of Millennium Realty Advisors.
Prior to joining Millennium, Rob worked as an analyst/development project manager for Monument Realty LLC, where he focused on the acquisition and development of office product in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. His responsibilities included valuation of both income-producing property and ground-up development, obtaining third-party financing, construction management, asset management, budgeting and financial and physical due diligence. Projects included the development of Presidents Park and the first three phases of Monument @ Worldgate totaling 1.2 million SF.
Prior to that, Rob worked as a financial analyst for CB Richard Ellis’ investment properties group, where he was responsible for the valuation and marketing of $2.5 billion of office, industrial, retail and multi-family space nationwide.
Rob holds a B.A. in economics from the University of Virginia. Membership associations include president, DC Real Estate Group; board member, GWCAR; and member, NAIOP-Northern Virginia chapter.
Kevin Malloy
Kevin Malloy has over 25 years of experience in commercial real estate. During this time, Kevin has developed a national tenant representation practice with an expertise in the high-technology sector, including mission-critical data centers and life sciences laboratories. He has represented Boston’s blue-chip landlords on some of the largest suburban office buildings in the market and executed more than $200 million in investment sales. Kevin has closed over 600 real estate transactions at an aggregate value of over $700 million dollars.
Prior to joining Avison Young, Kevin served for 10 years as Senior Vice President at Lincoln Property Company in Boston where he was consistently one of the firm’s leading producers.
Malloy joined Avison Young as Principal & Director of Avison Young’s Technology Practice Group to help grow the company’s brokerage business and further expand the company’s brand in the New England market.
Kevin is an Advisory Board Member of both Self Help Africa and Goal USA. He is a youth basketball coach in Wellesley, Massachusetts where he and his family are members of Brae Burn Country Club.
Kevin received his Bachelor of Science, Business Administration from Spring Hill College, Mobile, AL
Rich Modliszewski
Rich Modliszewski joined Avison Young in 2011 as Associate with Boston’s suburban brokerage team, specializing in high-technology sector, including mission-critical data centers and life sciences laboratories. Rich takes an innovative approach to finding solutions for companies ranging from start-ups to corporate institutions.
Prior to joining Avison Young, Rich was an Associate at Lincoln Property Company in Boston, where he worked on over 45 transactions in the span of two years, totaling 90,000 square feet. In addition, Rich was appointed the Boston contact for Lincoln Rackhouse, a subsidiary of Lincoln Property Company that specializes in data center tenant representation.
Rich supports the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Union College Alumni Association, and the Fighting Dutchmen Gridiron Club.
Rich received his B.A. Managerial Economics, Minor in Classics from Union College.
Jackson Myers
With over 10 years experience in commercial real estate, Mr. Myers specializes in site selection, labor analytics, mission critical site due diligence, project financing, development and economic incentive services. His scope of work extends to portfolio clients with specific call center, data center, education, regional hub and headquarter location requirements.
Prior to joining Avison Young, Mr. Myers was a Senior Broker at Jones Lang LaSalle; where, he headed numerous site selection and portfolio optimization projects. Before JLL, Myers served as Vice President for the former Trammell Crow Company, Location Strategy Group.
Mr. Myers is a member of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals, Industrial Management Council, SOCAP, CoreNet, Gartner, APSCU, et al. For multiple years, Myers has been recognized by the CoStar Group as a Power Broker for office leasing transactions.
While finalizing his Master degree in Economics from the Dedman School of Economic Studies at Southern Methodist University, Myers founded the SMU Forum; first student lobbying organization in the history of SMU. Prior to graduate school, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy from Southern Methodist University.
Tim Hooton
Tim has 25 years experience in corporate real estate, and is a Principal at Avison Young. Tim has spent the last 15 years in working Avison Young’s Tenant Advisory services group advising and representation corporate clients, across Canada and the United States.
Tim’s strengths include strategic planning, financial analysis, negotiation and implementation of real estate disposition and consolidation projects for various industry sectors. He has a proven track record with companies in financial services, marketing, public relations and has significant experience in the loyalty and fulfillment business sectors.
Tim is a member of Avison Young’s Data Centre Practice Group which provides corporate users, and suppliers of IT services advisory and brokerage support in critical mission requirements. This specialization ensures Tim’s clients have vision and criticial evaluation of corporate IT requirements, facility planning, and IT capital budgeting.
He works diligently for his clients and is most proud of the satisfied results and long term relationships he has developed with his clients.
Jonathan Pearce
Jonathan has worked in corporate real estate since 1993. Jonathan specializes in professional advisory services and representation of both landlord and tenant clients. Jonathan’s focus is on serving the transaction needs of his clients on a best in class basis. Jonathan’s extensive background and experience in commercial real estate provides clients with the knowledge and technical ability to solve their real estate challenges. His strengths include a balance of technical and communication skills along with a precise understanding of tenant and landlord issues, as well as extensive negotiating experience. These strengths allow him to facilitate advantageous solutions on behalf of his clients, while maintaining a focus on his clients’ time lines, budgets, and business objectives. Jonathan specializes in the downtown and midtown areas of Toronto, but has transactional experience for clients in most major metropolitan markets in Canada and the US. Jonathan has experience working with private, corporate, institutional, associations and not-for-profit organizations.
Jonathan is consistently a leading producer at Avison Young.
Jonathan has a degree in Urban Land Economics and Finance from Sheffield Hallam University, and is a Professional Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the pre-eminent global property designation. This provides him with an extensive understanding of real property, including contracts, financing and valuation. His technical business acumen allows him to work closely with senior business people and stakeholders to resolve critical client business issues.
Frédéric Seigneur
Since joining Avison Young in 2009, Frédéric Seigneur has developed a core expertise in Montreal’s data centre market. Frédéric has developed an in-depth and unique knowledge of data center space availability and is uniquely positioned to match the right user for the right space and help negotiate the proper terms and conditions of the transaction.
Frédéric also focuses on servicing clients with their leasing requirements as well as their investment and disposition projects. With the objective to always defend the clients’ interest in a thoughtful approach, Frédéric Seigneur successfully sold properties for corporations such as Canvar, Hertz and Standard Life, and concluded tenant representation transactions for various companies ranging from small professional firms to large international corporations.
Prior to joining Avison Young, Frédéric Seigneur was a financial analyst in Jones Lang LaSalle Capital Market group where he worked on the disposition of assets such as the disposition of an undivided share of a 500,000 square-foot Montreal downtown office building or a 130,000 square-foot vacant building sold for a residential redevelopment in downtown Montreal.
Previously, Frédéric worked for a venture capital firm owned by the Caisse d’Épargne in Marseilles, France where he analyzed and managed, on a portfolio basis, different investment projects around the world
Frédéric received his Master in Finance from Université d’Aix en Provence, France and a Bachelor in Finance and Management from HEC Montreal
Mike Shuler
Mike Shuler joined Avison Young as a result of the June 2011 acquisition of Millennium Realty Advisors, which he co founded. He has more than 25 years of experience in the Northern Virginia commercial real estate market, with a combined sales and leasing activity totaling $30 billion. In the 1990s, Mike worked with large national institutional ownerships that foreclosed on real estate, guiding them through successful repositioning of their assets. It is these contacts that Mike has utilized to negotiate joint-venture partnerships between local developers and larger equity sources to develop new speculative development. Mike has consulted on numerous “ground up” developments that give him a unique knowledge of ground up replacement costs which enables him to quickly evaluate valuations for new and existing projects. This experience also gives him an ownership mentality with a mindful eye to debt and exit strategies as he leases office project for institutional ownerships. This balance also helps him negotiate on behalf of tenants. He is uniquely qualified in “build to suit” negotiations.
Mike received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The College of William and Mary.
Joe Almeida
Joe Almeida joined Avison Young in September 1991 after a brief career as an educator, working in the UK. During his commercial real estate career, Joe has gained a wide range of experience working with national and multinational users and owners of corporate real estate.
Over the years, his main goal has consistently been one where all necessary internal and third party resources are brought to bear to ensure that his clients’ real estate objectives are achieved and their expectations surpassed. This is evidenced by the long term relationships that he has enjoyed with his clients throughout his career. Joe has been a principal of the firm since 2000 and has been recognized as a Top Producer.
Joe is a firm believer in giving back to his community and as such he is a committed volunteer and fundraiser for many organizations including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society.
As a strong proponent of continued professional development in the commercial real estate industry, Joe is involved with many initiatives of the Society of Industrial & Office Realtors and sits as Membership & Admissions Chair for the SIOR Central Canada Chapter Executive Committee. Real estate professionals who have earned the SIOR designation are recognized by corporate real estate executives, as the most capable and experienced brokerage practitioners in any market.
Joe received his Bachelor of Education from McGill University (1986)
Kurt Love
As an Associate Vice President with Avison Young’s Office Group, Mr. Love brings over 11 years experience in suburban leasing focusing on landlord and national tenant representation.
Kurt comes to Avison Young from a leading brokerage firm where he held a series of advancing roles, most recently as Vice President — Office Group. Personal Business Philosophy – Continued enhancement of personal knowledge base and to consistently strive to further develop the technical and creative skill sets to better serve and surpass the clients’ needs through creative Real Estate solutions to derive the maximum value for their transactions. In the past 9 years, Kurt has brokered the lease of over 400 office and industrial properties.
